Upon hubby's request, I made nasi lemak according to the recipe book.

Nasi Lemak Ingredient:

1) 1 Cup - rice

2) 1 Cup - water

3) 1/3 cup - coconut milk

4) 1 tbsp oil

5) 1/3 tp salt

6) pandan leaves

1) Soak rice for 20 minutes and drain. Add oil and salt.

2) Bring the coconut milk, water and pandan leaves to boil. Add in the rice and set to cook. Stir twice during cooking.

Sambal Sotong and Steam Tofu

Sambal Sotong

1) Clean the sotong and cut into pieces. Boil for 3 minutes, drain.

2) Heat oil and neknor sambal, put in sotong and cook for 5 minutes.

Steam Tofu

1) Steam tofu for 3 minutes, drain. Set aside to cool.
2) Heat oil and put in dried shrimps, carrot. Add in mixture of oyster sauce, light soy sauce and dark soy sauce. sugar and salt to taste.

Sambal Prawn and Baked Char Siu Sauce Drummette

Sambal Prawn

1) Wash prawns and remove shells and heads.

2) Heat oil and fry prawns. Add sambal neknor.

Baked Chicken Drummettes

1) Marinate drummettes with LKK Char Siew Sauce.

2) Using toaster oven, bake for 20 minutes at 230C.

Stuffed Chicken Wings

Stuffed Chicken Wings

1) Clean chicken wings. Remove the tips. From the opening, may use scissors or bare fingers to debone.

2) Stuff wings with prawn and carrot.

3) Lightly marinate the wings with pepper, light soy sauce.

4) Steam the wings for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.

5) Coat with corn flour and deep fry till brown.

Eu Yan Sang Herbal Soup. Double thumbs up.

Eu Yan Sang soup pack is really convenient. Just buy 300g meat, clean and remove fats and skins. Blanch the meat. Wash the pack of soup ingredients. Bring 1500ml water to boil, put in the meat and ingredients, bring to boil again, simmer for 1.5 hours. Done! I like EYS soup pack because I can always get nice round longans.

As I wander around the house, here and there I do find items that aren't really necessities. Those items are those that I can live without, that I don't really need them, hardly use them, use once or I can substitute them with cheaper versions. In short, if I stop buying them, I can save some money.

1) Boxes of Facial Tissue - Toilet rolls will do rite? Maybe I can get a nice cover so that it looks more appealing

2) Softlan - I seldom use it, but the man of the house will ensure that he gets to pour in the softener every time the washing machine beeps. I know that clothes smell better with softlan, but they don't smell bad without it either.

3) Dehumidifier - If the mold makes a come back, I shall get the man to paint the walls.

4) Pail meant for mopping - I can actually live without it, as any other ordinary pail will do just good, but somehow, I went ahead and bought it home.

5) Women magazines - I can always source for reading materials from the Internet, FOC.

6) Wet tissues - I bought them for the purpose of wiping my face clean, to refresh myself. I shall try bringing a face towel with me to wipe my face dry after splashing with pipe water.

There was heavy downpour lastnight, after we hit the sack. I could hear the strong wind. It can be quite scary when you are at the 20th floor, well at least to me. It suddenly hit on me that I left my bath towel outside on the cloth rail at the balcony. So I woke up and dashed out to find my brother collecting his belongings from the rail as well.

Even though the strong wind and heavy downpour sounds scary to me, but I do like it to happen once in a while because that's the only way to ensure that I can wake up to a clear blue sky with cleaner air. It helps to wash the hazy or rather dusty sky because there are construction sites nearby our place.

On the way driving back home just now, took a glance at the fuel indicator, I realized that I have the last half tank of RON 97 to power my car. :( I suppose after finishing this half tank, I am going to pump only RON 95. I heard that expert says it is not good for the car engine if we mix RON 95 and RON 97. If RON 95 does no harm to my car, I better stick to RM1.80. bleh....

I have been managing this restaurant of mine on a regular basis. If I have time on weekdays, I will logon once in the morning to feed all my 8 employees and logout, let them operate on their own to get the mere $2000. At nite, if I am lucky to be able to logon(I always have problem to logon RC during nite time at home), I will feed my employees again and let it run to gain the gourmet points. During weekends, if I am at home, I will let it run from morning till nite, occasionally feeding them to keep the popularity level. My elder sis who recently joined FB is addicted to RC for the time being. She is all excited about going around picking banana peels, spilt can drinks , rotten apples and drumstick bones to get quick money. I am glad she is joining the bandwagon.

When we moved into this house, we had to discontinue our broadband subscription because the telephone line was not ready. Thus, we opt for other alternative. Never had subscribe to any wireless broadband before, we just gave it a try. There was not many options around and we had to get the package which was suitable for multiple pcs and also within our budget.

The salesperson came to our house to test the connectivity and speed. He was frank enough to tell us that the signal was not strong and it was up to us to decide. I was quite desperate for it as Internet is the only source of entertainment for us. We thought of giving it a try and if the speed is unbearable, we shall terminate it and get back our money.

Our one year subscription will expire in less than 60 days. We still don't know if we shall continue with the current service provider as the speed is not very stable. It will definitely be cheaper if we continue with it as we do not need to pay for the modem anymore. We are still looking around for better package like what being offered by harboursat satellite broadband. It provides rural internet services and does not need a telephone line for connection because it uses a technology that enables sending and receiving of data via satellite link.

On normal weekdays, when I don't feel like eating out, I will try to cook something real simple. I try to cook food which require minimal preparation and cooking time because there were times when I arrived home, it was 8pm already. I prefer to steam my food because while steaming, I am free to do other chores. Besides that, less cleaning to be done. Having stock up with otak-otak does help a lot. I just need to take it out from the freezer and steam it for 10-15 minutes. I bought the McCormick buffalo wings seasoning. I just need to marinate the chicken wings, layer the casserole with aluminium foil, preheat my toaster oven, and bake the wings for 15 minutes at 230 C. I tried to make salted egg yolk fried prawn. I have never tried this before and thus, I don't know how it should taste. I was so determined to make it and thus, I followed my instinct. According to recipe online, I need to steam the salted egg yolk and mash it. Then fry the prawn. My instinct told me to cover the prawn with some starch before frying. Later on, fry the mashed egg yolk, add in curry leaves and the fried prawn. It might not be delicious, but at least edible.

Childhood Memories Part 2.

Another post related to childhood memories as well. I was chatting with my colleague in YM the other day and the topic some how drifted to pocket money for young kids. He told me he was not given any pocket money to bring to school until he attended secondary school. His mother prepared food/snack for him to bring to school up until he was primary six. He said it was because of poverty. I am not very sure about this. As for me, my parents trusted me with daily pocket money since I attended kindergarten at 5. At 5, I was given 30cents per day to buy food, most of the time snacks. They didn't give me the coins everyday. Instead, they asked me to get the coins from a round knitted basket in the drawer in their bedroom. I was an honest kid. 30cents means 30 cents. I won't get more. Maybe my mom did peep on me to check if I had been honest or not. The following year, at 6, the pocket money increased to 50 cents. I don't quite remember how much I got in primary school and lower secondary. But I do remember, when I was in Form 4, when I started to attend tuition classes almost everyday after school, mom decided to give me monthly allowance. She gave RM80 per month. That should include the daily lunch after school, snack during school and "kai kai" with friends on weekends. She never failed to remind me to ask for more, if I find the money insufficient. *wink* But I never did ask for more. I am glad that she did that as I personally think it helps to train me to live within a budget. Then when I was in Form 5, she had a new policy. For longer months, I got RM100. *double wink*

Ribena Ice Pop

I still remember when I was still in primary school, I used to make ice pops during the year end holidays. We used long slim plastic bags to fill in the Ribena or Milo and tied them up. Sometimes, mom would join in the fun. We will place those sticks nicely in the freezer. When those ice pops were ready, we bit the corner and sucked from there.

Recently, this childhood memories came back to me. Of coz, I won't use plastic bags anymore as there are ice pop makers available in the market. Finally went to the local Daiso and bought it back.

I think they look cute.

And here, my ever loyal guinea-pig sucking on the 1st ice pop while having his eyes glued on TV. All England wah....

Fried Honey Chicken

I got the recipe from The Malaysian Women's Weekly March 2009 Ed. It featured 30 dishes under 15 minutes. This is one of the 30. *wink*

Sprinkle 1 1/2 tsps salt over 8 chicken wings. Toss and rub onto skin. Heat 1 to 2 cups of oil in a deep pan over medium-high fire. When hot, deep-fry chicken in a single layer for 10 minutes and transfer to a serving plate. In the same pan, drain oil and combine 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup tomato sauce together. Cook until heated through. Add fried chicken wings and toss till well coated with sauce. Serve with sliced lime wedges.

My version of fried honey chicken, with more sauce. (The picture in the mag shows the dry version). I even added five spice powder to marinate the wings without knowing if it will taste good. I think it would be very delicious if it didn't happen to be too sweet. I did not follow the measurement given by the recipe, I just "agak-agak" on the honey and tomato sauce. Padan muka! So troublesome to pour the honey into a cup and then transfer to the wok,rite? I wonder by squeezing some lime juice on it will help? But I didn't have any. Anyway, my loyal guinea-pig willing to "sapu" all with me.

Climbing up 20 floors

I must jot this down. To cut the story short, bro sms-ed me at 11.30pm that the whole block blacked-out. TY and I were still having our dinner at a mamak stall. True enough, while we were on our way back, all 4 blocks 'mati karan'. There was a fire engine at the guard house. A number of residents were there. I was so worried if anyone was committing suicide. phew .... They called the fire brigade just in case somebody trapped in the elevator. All elevators were out of service. They called TNB, but no where to be seen yet. Nobody knows when it would back to normal. What's next? Back home loh. How to? Climb the stairs loh. How many floors to climb? Freaking 20, i tell u! It was the first time I got to walk up till 20th floor. The worst I had was 16 floors. I wasn't in tip top condition. I was running a temperature and having stuffy nose. That explained why I didn't sweat a bit after climbing 20 floors. My brother lagi cari susah. Walked all the way down to ground floor and all the way back to 20th floor lagi.

I have gotten a dining set for ourselves(too poor to get one when we moved in last May). Finally, mission accomplished! Just simple. Nothing much to ask for since the whole house is simple. A friend of mine said that my house is too empty. Well, I am very okay with the simplicity. Firstly, it is budget factor. Secondly, I strongly believe, as time goes by, more and more things will occupy the space. So I told him that I save the space for my future kids to put their toys. Haha! He went speechless. nyek nyek nyek!

Besides making an order for a dining set, I managed to bring home two pairs of heels at one go. Yes, I am happy as it is not often that I can find a pair that I like. Looking back, I had quite a pathetic year. Throughout the year, I am wearing only ONE pair of heels which was bought before CNY2008. Last September, I bought another pair of sandals and sport shoes. That's it. I must confess that year 2008 is a year that I have refrained myself from spending on MYSELF. Our money mostly went into our home. However, I have no regret. This was what I have chosen and I will try to live the best out of it.

I want myself to continue enjoy and happy with my life! Ces't la vie!!

Aiyo.... it seems to me that each day gone very fast when it is approaching end of the year. why why why??? it seems like only yesterday i set up the christmas tree. *cold sweat*

My last post was almost a month ago. Here I am trying to recall what had happened.

1. Cassey came to stay overnite after she came back from NZ last month. Our friend who stays at the same condo as me became victim of a snatch thief. It was just outside of our condo. The thief ran towards her from behind and pushed her(she fell!) before snatching her bag. The thief even bit her hand when she refused to let go her bag.

2. An ex-colleague lost her company laptop, wallet, portable HD, handset and etc to snatch thief some where near chan sow lin LRT station.

3. TY had painted our room because of fungus infection. I went to complain this matter to the management people and they got me to fill in the defect list form and promised to send someone to check on this coming 3rd Jan (SAT) 11 a.m. [hope i won't forget about this. can someone remind me?]

4. I am still learning how to swim. *sigh*

5. Finally got the letter from my boss. But the pay slip tells more. I have to admit that I am indeed happy with the bonus given. After working for more than 3 years, this is the first time I received bonus for my efforts poured in. My previous employer didn't give any during my two years of service there. So you can imagine my excitement when I found an unusual amount credited into my account. :D The increment is average. Really so so. After all deductions, not much difference. :|. I don't know what to expect at this kind of economy. But at least, my minimum expectation been met. :D

Well, that's all for the moment. Let's move to another topic. Dongzhi!

I questioned TY the meaning of Dongzhi. As expected, he couldn't answer me. SO I googled. It seems that in layman term, dongzhi is the day at it's shortest. Is it?? No matter what it is, as a chinese, I got myself a valid and reasonable reason to cook for the dinner this coming Sunday. Hehe!! I have to admit that I like to cook eventhough the food I cooked not the tastiest. Decision been made and we will have 1 soup, 1 prawn and 1 vege for the big day.

This is the consequence of spending 2 hours preparing the foodstuff.

Yes, I am pokai. I have been paying RM8, RM6 and RM9 for 3 days of parking. It's much more expensive than having a lunch. How to survive? Monthly pass will cost RM130. To get or not to get? It is not a good time to get 1 as December approaching with a few public holidays. I am really stressed. It's either paying for the expensive parking or I got to drive-out and drive-in every 3 hour to pay the minimum. I am going to be crazy. With the economy at the moment, it is considered good to have a job. Can't imagine what would happen if I don't have a job. *SIGH*

Why is it that the RM2.00 per litre of petrol unable to delight me at all? Why? Why? Why? (Sounds like Joe-Bao already).

Chicken Feet and Black Eyed Peas Soup

One of my favourite soup is the chicken feet + black eyed peas. To me, these peas have very pleasant smell. I can smell them when I was washing them. I never like red beans nor green beans in my food. I don't eat red beans served in the ABC. I don't like red bean dessert. I don't like red bean 'ais krim potong'. It's all because of the sandlike feel. I just hate it. Black eyed peas have the same characteristics as red beans but I like it. I even like it in the dumpling(bak zhang).

That's my supper. I had my cincau with evaporated filled milk. I prefer cincau this way rather than soya bean. With soya bean, I just feel it is not 'milk' enough. So, does it resemble Michael Jackson? Some may just refer to it as black & white. I learnt those terms in KL.

1) When we were leaving the house, he would be the first to walk to the door and stood there(acting innocently like a 3-yr-old kid), waiting for me to unlock the door. He did it every time without fail.

2) He never know where to dine. If being forced, he would definitely choose to go to that particular place to dine. *lousy*

3) On every working day, he ensures I wake up before he does. While I washing up, he continue his sweet dreams.

4) Hinting to me that it's time to vacuum the house but never bother to take the initiative.

5) He didn't know that a crab in dark grey+green color is not cooked yet!!

6) I asked him to fill a small pot with water to get ready to boil the vege. He did fill the pot with water but he put in the vege as well and trying to bring them to boiled at the same time. *Grrrr* The correct way should be bring the water to boiled then only put in the vege, isn't it?

7) We went to a new steamboat restaurant. He said "oh...they(the restaurant) even have the eggs labeled, LTK". *vomit blood* Oh dear, LTK sells eggs!!! It's normal to find eggs with prints on them.

8) I told him AirAsia giving free seats. He didn't show any interest at all. *potong stim*

9) Ordered me to cut the fruits and served him.

10) Switch to his nagging mode and tells me this, tells me that while 'geleng-ing' his head.

Yam Rice

I found the recipe here. Actually I have been wanting to try this recipe for a very long time and finally, today is the day. The end result is as follow:

Yam Rice

I really like the mushroom. In fact, I don't really fancy yam that much and thus, I may omit it in my future attempts. But what is yam rice without yam rite?

Note to myself: The yam a bit bland and not that mushy. But I am okay with the yam being not mushy. So in next attempt, I better add the yam cubes into the cooker pot immediately when it starts to boil so that the yam get to absorb the seasoned water or add seasoning to fry the yam.

From Wired to Wireless!

We have been subscribing to IZZI for 6 months and more. All the while, we connect the modem to one of the machines using the USB port and this machine will share its internet connection to the rest of the machines. This practise will cause the machine that serves as host to the rest to experience slow connection speed. The owner of the host machine has finally had enough of it. This owner actually forced me to chip in to get a router so that we stop connecting to internet via his machine.

So right after treating that fella to a bowl of curry seafood noodle at Segambut(RM12 per bowl), we headed to Bintang Walk. To Low Yat, where else?? To summarize everything, we came home with a wireless router, earphones and a notebook cooling pad and a happy me. :D I have been longing for a cooling pad for my notebook and only today, I have a willing heart to pay for it. The earphones are for me as well because the 'cruel' owner wanted me to return the earphones to him. *bleh*

Well, I feel glad that the router is working. We actually called IZZI customer service line to check which router that their modem is compatible with. Belkin was what he recommended. The salesperson said his customer used that for IZZI as well. So, we are poorer by RM120.

Now, I am accessing the internet via the wireless network. The router is just next to my laptop. I have yet to try connect to it somewhere else out of the computer room. The salesperson said, it is better if there isn't anything to block the signal. So how to connect if I move the notebook out of the room i.e in the living room or my bedroom? I even have the plan to bring my notebook into the toilet to keep myself entertained when I am doing the 'big' biz in there.

So here I am using the wireless network provided by the newly bought Belkin router, listening to music with the newly bought earphones and having my notebook "fanned" by this newly bought cooling pad. I-AM-HAPPY, at least for this moment.

Updated: Ooohhh Ahhhh ...yeah... It had been a while since I can surf the net lying on my bed.

As mentioned earlier(I did?) , I was to attend a week long training and yes, it was over. Today is the last day. As predicted, all modules were covered right before lunch time. And thus, during lunch hour my colleagues and I went around this Amcorp Mall. Today, there are stalls set up at the main entrance there. The cute cup cakes caught my eyes. Thus, I bought half dozen home at RM2 each. Too cute to be resisted. I was actually saying to my colleague that I may be a cake/cookie baker and seller 1 day if I quit my profession. Hah!!!

TY tried the chocolate cake and said it's yummy!!! Good then!! At time of posting still 5 pieces sitting on top of the speakers. All of the sudden, the urge to spend money comes back to me. I don't know why. But it's a kind of therapy, rite? I do need one.

Finally the Genting trip is over. Just got back from Genting. We went up the hill after work on Friday night. It was quite relaxing but just a little bit boring. We even watched High School Musical 3 there. The main purpose was actually to watch the Dreamz. To me, the show was a little bit boring as well. The white lion and white tiger just went on stage for a while. So disappointed. The second disappointment was the Mushroom Farm. *sigh* Anyway, I don't mind going for such trip again provided the itinerary is well planned. Kakakaka!!!

Wow, it's mid of October. I have been very busy at work ever since the office moved. It wasn't really due to office moving. It was because I am to pick up more things at work since my leader left for another project. Deadlines are anytime here. Thus, I am very stressed. I am so worried that deadlines couldn't be met. The stresses have caused me to have sleepless nights, weekends are not relaxing anymore. I worked longer hours now. Luckily office is nearer to home now. But I got to go out earlier. The main reason is to try my luck to get free parking. All I can do now is pray to God that everything going to be fine and on schedule.
I hope things will slowly get settled so that I can happily go for my 3d/2n getaway at Genting end of this month. But this project is going to be a long and tough battle. For sure! Another training on the way. I am so looking forward to it. To me, it's like having a 1 week holiday. Let's just treat this as a short break before we go back for the battle. Haha!! Let's hope my testings tomorrow going to be a smooth sailing 1. Not any major bugs anymore. As I am typing here, ants are loitering around. One by one came to my sight. *sigh*

*I had Big Apple Donuts for breakfast this morning*

It's been almost a month since I last updated this blog. All the major events that I've highlighted in the previous post did happen and over.

1) My family safely arrived KL, happily went gai-gai and safely went back home. Sis called a few times to say how she missed the days she was here and couldn't wait to plan for the next trip.

2) I went to Club Med Cherating on 19th-21st Sept. It was our company trip. It was a very nice experience and the G.Os were so great that we would never feel dull. Free flow of beers, cocktails, mocktail and juices. I would definitely want to be there again.

3) My office has officially moved to a new area which is only 10KM away from home. I was very delighted but the exorbitant parking rate is killing me. There isn't any maximum value. Every hour clocked will cost RM1.00. I definitely need to get the seasonal parking pass. *sigh*

So, what's next???

Genting is having a promotion where members get to use the World Point(WP) to redeem for rooms. After so many years of collecting points, I have finally have enough WP to redeem. I am still planning on it. That's the thing when we don't have the extra to go the extra miles. Haha!!!

My mind is a bit messy now. I have a very long to-do list on my mind that needs to be organized and prioritized. *sigh* What had happened to me? I used to be someone who loves to come out with a timetable(but never follow). There is some changes of environment at work. The team was divided into 2 and based at 2 different locations. The team lead was not at the same base as me. So I foresee a more independent of me. As they said, I need to grow up. I need to advance. I need to expand my scope. I do hope I can do so but that involves lots of self-discipline. I am not that good at setting 'pleasant' deadlines. I hope this is just a phase. Again, as they said, I need to be more positive. I guess this is when confidence play a bigger role. *Big girls don't cry*

I have a team of very nice colleagues. Lunch time is always the time to catch up and sometimes gossip. Eventhough we sit in cubicles side by side, we do use instant messenger to communicate. We share jokes, news and almost anything shareable.

One thing I find it amusing is the craze on certain Facebook apps that never fail to get us together. We can be so crazy about 1 app at 1 point of time together and together move on to another app. Lately, 1 of them added the Pet Society and it spreaded to the others. In this app, you get to design and own a pet. 1 thing I find it real funny is our pet's name. First, there is A's Chibi, then K's Pookey. I don't want to lose out, and thus I named my pet, Bus-Tart. The others named theirs as dol, gululu, wei-wei, meme and etc.

There is actually another story on Chibi. Actually Chibi is an online game and Red Cliff is the movie. Chibi is sort of like the pinyin for Red Cliff in chinese. I first get to know about this Chibi from my bro. It sounds vulgar to me. It sounds so CCB. I brought this issue up to my ever creative colleague who eventually transform the name of a cafe to Chibi. From ChatterBox to CB to Chibi. Nowadays, we don't address that cafe by it's original name anymore. Kesian... I guess those who didn't know about this online game chibi, definitely thought we are cursing or wat. You don't believe me? Check this out http://chibi.cubizone.com. I saw an advertisement on this site in the TV as well. But they did not pronounce chibi as in english. They read Chibi as in Chinese. At the moment, I still find Chibi sounds cute. Kakakaka

I have been lazy updating this blog lately. Why?? No idea. I was not extremely busy at work nor with any house chores. But why??

I need the excitement to get me going. I should be feeling very excited by now as September is approaching.

After few days of getting quotations from several agencies, finally, big boss agreed to have us all at Club Med Cherating. Yes!! That's where we want to be.

Appraisal has been done and almost completed. Will have a short discussion with PM and teamlead to finalize everything.

I have bought 4 rooms for 1 night for our stay at Genting. At least I have something confirmed.

Procrastination. I hate this. I haven't bought the CNY ticket yet.

Got 4 pics of Rachel from Bro yesterday. Glad that she is growing well. Very chubby. I guess kids should be chubby isn't it?

I could not believe it that the month of July was finally over. Time does fly huh? We are in the 2nd half of the year. It is quite eventful to me. I am looking forward to a series of event.

#1: In about 45 days time, I get to see my whole family here in KL. Yes....the whole family. The funny thing is they don't fly in together. Bro and family will arrive on Thurs, Sis and BIL will arrive on Fri and Dad will arrive on Saturday. We will all celebrate the mid-autumn festival here. So looking forward to it. And I will be on leave for 4 days at least. I will treat it as my annual holiday treat eventhough I'm still in KL. :(

#2: The next event should be my company trip. I am in the committee eventhough I didn't volunteer. I was 'put on the table'. In fact the whole committee was 'put on the table'. We have yet to have our first meeting. Getting the travelling dates which are most suitable to everyone is quite difficult. Different teams have different project deadlines to meet. (When you are in the committee, you get to know who are serving the notice of resignation)

#3: This is the appraisal month. I have just submitted the form to the PM yesterday after he gave me that threatening look. Aiyo...it was my first such formal appraisal experience. so excited. I shall be waiting for the PM to have a face-to-face talk with each of us. Makan plain bubur or Makan dried scallop bubur all depends on him. Very kan cheong ah.

#4: TY is going for a team building trip to KK end of August. I was thinking what to get from KK(from sis). I couldn't think of any except the A4 brand Dark Soy Sauce. I could not find this brand in major hypermarkets here. Do you think Sis will get me some delicacies from Tanjung Aru?

#5: More festive holidays coming. National Day, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali, Christmas and so on.... Don't you love Malaysia? I do when I don't read those news that make me sick. Even political news are annoying to me now. I feel like watching soap opera. I wanna migrate!!!! But to where??? I must be determine enough to get an xmas tree this year. Nobody is going to stop me. No reason is going to stop me.

Great... Now I realize that I haven't bought tickets for my CNY trip back home. Great! It must be getting very very very expensive now. :( :( :( But I am still procrastinating. Worst situation 1K for a return trip. Or... tak balik rumah....Hahaha! Jahat punya anak.

IKEA having sales now lah. And there shall be a new catalogue for 2008/2009 pricing. I feel like they are calling out to me. *sob* *sob* I want a dining table from Ikea. Possible of price drop?

One fine afternoon, the sis happily came out from the bathroom and walked into the computer room to be questioned by the boyfriend on whether she really showered. Thus, the easiest way to prove was to let the boyfriend smell the scent of the body shampoo from her hand. The sis even proudly told the bro that she used his newly bought goat's milk body shampoo for shower. The bro was a bit confused with that. It was because he thought the goat's milk shampoo that he bought was meant for the hair instead of the body. The sis sheepishly went into the bathroom to check it out. The bro was right. That bottle was indeed a bottle of hair shampoo. Aiyo...... damn xia sui..... Pai wu loong.....Why so damn xia sui 1....

I added white pepper seeds as well. I'm not sure whether to grind it a bit or not for stronger taste but I was too lazy to do so the night before. So I just washed them and put into the pot. I don't remember mum putting any of those seeds into our ABC soup. But I did drink something like that outside. Hantam sajalah.... Too bad, the soup to me was tasteless. I was down with flu.

I am still on medical leave. I went back to the same clinic to see the same doctor and came back with a different set of medicine. It seems that the medicines the doc prescribed earlier just cannot help. I couldn't sleep well last nite with nose blocked. It came to my surprise that the bill is much more expensive than the previous visit. Both bills total up to RM106. Walau eh... eventhough I don't need to pay a cent(i have this ING medic card given by company), I still feel that it's rather expensive. Just few days of antibiotics, medicine for throat and for flu. That's it. Nothing special.

Now I am having a bowl of ABC soup meant for dinner as my lunch. Sien... whatever I eat seem tasteless. *sigh* I think the medicine is working this time. My head doesn't feel that heavy anymore. I'm waiting to sweat now. I believe I would feel better once I sweat. I hope I able to fall asleep later to make up for what I missed last nite.

Lotus Root Soup

Lotus Root in pieces, salty vege, red dates and pork ribs.

Had my ingredients piling up in the pot. (I enjoy 'arranging' them nicely into the pot)

Ingredients:

1) Lotus Root

2) Pork Ribs

3) Red dates

4) Salty Vege (is it dai tao choy? in hakka, we call it "jin choy")

This was the 2nd time I boiled lotus root soup using the slow cooker. I realized that the salty vege can give better taste to the soup compare to dried squid. That was the reason I didn't boil any soup when I couldn't buy the salty vege from those hypermarkets. I don't want my soup to turn out bland. I purposely made a trip to the neighbourhood morning market a.k.a pasar. I was so delighted to find the salty vege. At least I know I can get it somewhere nearby my house. The last piece was actually bought at Tesco. The nearest Tesco is like 13KM away from my place which is a big no-no with fuel price hike. Furthermore, I don't like the open parking there especially on a sunny day.

Broken lamp, Stained Sinks - So What?!?!?!?!

You can find it in Ikea. We bought a pair and the 40w bulbs that we bought are too bright. Thus, I brought 1 of them to put on the bedroom floor. I have always wanted yellow light for my bedroom because it can make the environment cosier. One fine night, while I was happily lying on the floor, my itchy leg somehow gave it a nice kick. Tadang.... That's the result. TY sort of gave me a killing stare coz it was bought 2 weeks ago. I can't expect much from a RM15.90. At least it still can stand on its own. I still keep it. Anything that I can salvage from there? The lamp base? Then where to find/how to make a lamp shade? Only God knows when I will throw it away.

Not long after I broke this lamp in our new home, I did something to our kitchen sinks. One of the rare nights that TY had to attend a wedding reception, I was so free at home. So I tot maybe I can give my sinks a good scrub cause there are always water stains on it. I don't know what got into my mind that nite, I pandai-pandai took out a brand new cleaner meant for toilet bowls. I read the instructions and I have to admit that there isn't any instructions which tell me that I can use it safely on sink. But I braved to pour it all over my 2 sinks and even leave it for like 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, you can imagine that my heart dropped. Yes, it did. Both my sinks turned into black colors, where the liquid was. Alamak!!! The liquid stained my sinks badly. No matter how hard i try to scrub, they just doesn't go away. *Sigh* Luckily my colleague suggested that I use jif. Jif did help to lighten the stain a bit. It's still visible until today.

Jif really makes wonder on dirty tables. No matter how hard I wipe the table, it was still brown. With a few drops of Jif, the result was instant. The old hand-down working table looks new again. My bro said it cleaned his belt's buckle as well. And Jif is cheap. You can get a bottle with less than RM5. I still have another plastic table to experience the face-lift.

Spaghetti

Campbell's Prego Spicy Tomato Sauce (pink color)

I shall try with olive oil next time. It sounds healthier. I personally think that the spaghetti looks nicer on the stoneware plate rather than my cheap plastic orange plate. And definitely looks more delicious. Even my cerewet brother whom I think does not fancy pasta apatah lagi with tomato sauce, finished the whole plate, except for the tiny pieces of onion that he filtered out. I got to admit that the spiciness lessen the "jelak" taste.

Enough to... really enough ah??

This morning, I was chatting with my colleague on wealthiness. It started from the chart that he sent me to test whether one can be a rich person or not. LOL! We were joking over our results and thus I told him that I am not a very greedy person. I don't need to be very rich. I am okay with:

1) Enough to live in a bungalow

2) Enough to drive luxury cars

3) Enough to hire maids

4) Enough to send my kids(future lah..) to International School and UK for tertiary education

5) Enough to have overseas trip yearly

6) Enough to not working from 9-5 on working days

Not greedy right? LOL!

He asked me if I can have only 1 of the above, which it would be??

I opt for #4 because even if:

I don't have a bungalow, I still can live comfortably in a smaller house(semi-detached not bad mah...LOL)

I don't drive a 5-series BMW, I can drive a Perodua(fuel economic wei...)

I don't have maid, I still can (reluctantly) do the chores.

I don't have overseas trip yearly, once in 2 or 3 years also nvm.

I have to work 9-5, dah biasa lah.... you want food on table or not???

Anyway, it's nice to dream once in a while. It might not be a dream if we really work for it. It might come true. *slap myself* Nah...get back to work.

We were happily and eagerly heading towards the gym downstairs. We saw the equipments been set up on our way to the swimming pool yesterday. The guard said it's ready to be used and we just need the access card for entry. But the truth is, we were disappointed. All 3 of us in our sports wear went upstairs without a drop of sweat. Sienz... I think I am going to make a trip to the management office to enquire about it.

Stealing no more

The stealing above means the stealing of my neighbourhood wireless connection. Neh... those open 1, without the padlock 1. Today, officially I got to connect via our very own connection. We have been eyeing on izzi for few weeks already. I was just waiting for the TM side be settled. TM sent me a red bill. Nice... Thus we went to TM Point yesterday morning and were glad to hear that we don't need to pay a cent(I think TM might owe us) for the so called penalty because it was TM which can't provide the service at my place.

We went to 2 izzi resellers yesterday morning and I got fed-up because they couldn't provide me the 0% easy payment. And thus, I called up the customer care line. Someone attended to me in a very short time, unlike the long wait that TM always gives me. I actually called them to enquire which of the resellers that would actually accept the 0% easy payment scheme. I don't want to run around just to get disappointed answers. I was more than happy when they said they were able to send a salesperson to my place to demo and can do the payment on the spot. To cut the story short(skip the part that I actually threat the salesperson who contacted me that I am going to get another reseller if he can't come to my place on that day), we subscribed to IZZI. But we have problem getting all 3 machines connected because we have a lousy router which failed us last nite. Great! Again to cut the story short, after almost 24 hours, finally we got 2 machines hooked up to the Internet, with 1 serves as the server. This is just a temporary measure, better than none. I am glad...I don't care how they hooked them up. I just want my Internet. I miss blog hopping.

Pinjam Connection

It's been almost a month since I moved in this new place called home. It's a real home for me now. I have been living without an internet connection ever since then. But right now, I'm blogging using other people's connection. No, I didn't hack it, it's left open without any password. Eventhough a bit slow, but still ok lah.. Hehehe! And I dunno when the connection will be gone. I just wanna jot something down here to indicate that I am not leaving my blog behind. I didn't leave it rot on purpose. *sigh* I'm waiting for the TMnet to send the bill and tell me that they allow me to terminate the service without needing to pay the rest of the subscription fees. *keep the fingers crossed* I have to terminate it because there is no telephone line here yet and I don't know how many moons more I need to wait. *sigh* If everything settled smoothly, then I will consider other wireless broadband services. Or shall I consider Astro?

I was busy since last weekend. After got those big boxes from my colleague, I started my packing. Wa-lao.... really dunno which section to start with. Too many of a little bit of here and there. Thus, I started with packing my clothes. I sorted out 3 bags of unwanted clothes. I took this chance to get rid of those unused stuffs. Among all my properties, I see that books are the most difficult to move. They are just too heavy. I have 1 box, printer box size of magazines which I collected since 2003. I was quite reluctant to sell them off as waste paper but I dont think it's a good idea to move them to the new house. I don't see myself be reading them anymore. So buat apa nak susah-susah rite?

Ever since that historical moment, I had problems sleeping in. Excited? No.. definitely not.. Anxiety? Yes.. Why? Definitely because of Vitamin M deficiency. That is condition that I have been living with all this while. LOL! I guess starting from tonite, I am going to get back my good sleep as some uncertainties have been cleared. At least I consider the situation is within control. LOL! Thank god that those must-have items in our list is within our budget. Most of all we must thank God that the delivery is on time and we are satisfied with the workmanship eventhough there are a few defects to be rectified. Overall, they delivered the unit in a clean condition.

We normally pay our debts from bank to bank every beginning of the month. Today, still the same routine. I have 3 cards to pay at citibank and knowing that its kiosk a bit sensitive or rather troublesome because it has the tendency to spit out those new notes, I dragged younger bro to help along. Everything went well until when we about to exit, there was a fella promoting those balance transfer thingy and handed him a leaflet. So this ke-poh boy(like he has a card for those service, LOL!), took the leaflet and read it. He was so concentrated until a loud "pong" sound. I was shocked and the first word I uttered was "Stupid lah". Lol!!! Yeah.... he banged his head against 1 metal-like thing attached to the big pillar. The metal was low enough to let him bang but high enough to let me tru. Hah! So he was cursing and cursing and cursing. Yeah... I do admit that the metal thingy should be installed higher and not posing threat to others. Can you notice that grumpy look? He has a new "building" constructed there.

JCo Donuts - finally

For a consecutive 2 weeks, I had Bah Kut Teh on Friday and Saturday. Very fattening! We went to this BKT restaurant some where near Sunway around 2pm. Right after that, we headed to Sunway Pyramid as there were 2 sua-gus never been to the new wing. Just thought of wanting to walk around.

After ogling at those "I can't bring them home yet" stuffs, I decided to join the Q for JCo Donuts. From outside of JCo, we patiently shuffling into JCo. It gave me enough time to decide on half dozen or 1 dozen as there were only 3+1(1 housemate will be helping on 1) of us. Finally I decided to get 1 dozen, so that I can admire 12 designs of the donuts. LOL! It was also because it is not always I would have the patience to line up for a good half an hour just to get those donuts. So might as well to make my effort of queueing up worthwhile. If I have more people to help on gulping down them, I definitely will go for 2 dozens. Obviously we had donuts for our dinner. Kakaka!

Well, i think the donuts are nice. Definitely worth a second time. Someone told me, Big Apple's taste better. It's okay. I will definitely give Big Apple a try someday somewhere where Big Apple is.

We went to 1U to have a belated celebration for SuhLi. Just another makan session. This time, I made the decision to have the lunch at Italiannies. The fried calamari and Seafood Pizza is so yummy. We ordered clams linguine as well. We spent a few hours lingering around before making our way to Starbucks Coffee. Before we went back, we happened to pass by this John King. It claims to be Hong Kong egg tart king. LOL! They were offering free testing for different flavours of egg tart i.e. durian, red bean and etc. I didn't test any but proceed to ask TY to purchase 4 ordinary egg tarts back home. I guess the egg tarts might taste better if were consume while they were warm.

I had my mission accomplished for the day. Finally I had a replacement antenna bought and installed. Despite the black rubber type, I opt for the shorter alloy antenna which costs the same, RM28 from Brothers. It may look weird but I believe sooner or later, I will get use to it. LOL! Yeah!!! Cooking Crab

Out of the blue on the 2nd day of CNY, I thought of eating crab. And my bro suggested that we go to wet market to look for it. So the 2 of us, went to look for crabs in the late afternoon. Chances to find crabs at that time should be very low. But we managed to find eventhough the crabs were small in size. Once we got home, he got to bring Rachel to visit the doc. I was left with no choice but the 'gao tim' the crabs myself.

How would you clean the crabs without having your hands being scratched by all those legs? I fill the large basin with water and carefully brought them 1 by 1 into the basin. With 1 toothbrush in hand, I was trying my best to scrub them while they were busy crawling sideways. *sigh* In the end, I gave up. I let them bath themselves in there and rinsed them with water. Shaked Shaked the basin, then drained them.

Next thing was bring a big pot of water to boiled and mercilessly used chopstick to bring them into the pot. They become red almost instantly. And I used my instinct to determine when to off the fire. That was my first experience of cooking crab. So I got to jot it down here. Kakaka!!!

Finally back from SDK last nite. First thing TY let me knew last nite at LCCT was, my car antenna was stolen the nite before. Great!! I just bought this FM modulator a day before and now I couldn't get it tested with the absence of an antenna. Another great news was, my old mp4 died on my hand yesterday as well. *sigh* That is a sign to let me know I should get a thumb drive very soon.

Well, I went back SDK on the eve of CNY, very early morning. As usual, McD at LCCT was over crowded. So we headed to Coffee Bean at the other end right after I checked-in. Once thing good about traveling early in the morning is the punctuality of the flight. The aircraft is there waiting for us to aboard. Only thing that may cause the delay is the waiting time to take off. As usual, busy traffic in the morning.

In short I had a pleasant CNY holiday. I get to hear a lot of good news from my friends. A few of our ex-schoolmates are getting married within 2 months. Congrats to them! Rachel grown up a lot. We so so miss her. And she was super manja and sticked to her parents like koala bear. A part of it was because she was sick. Well, I'm looking forward to seeing her this coming April. And a reminder to myself, I spent my 2008 Valentine's day with Vada. Thank you Vada!

Last Weekend Before CNY arrives

This is the last weekend for those last minute shoppers like me to beat the crowds out there. TY still in Philippines for his training and won't be back until tomorrow late nite. So I couldn't wait him to come back only do the shopping. Thus, this morning I braved to Mid Valley, of course with my bro as well. Purpose of the shopping is mainly for BCH's dried pork and pork floss. I went there quite early, arrived at The Gardens car park around 11am++ when empty parking spaces are still a lot. I hate making rounds in car parks just for a pathetic parking lot.

Big Sis called when we were having our breakfast. She added 2 items to my shopping list. I got to look for Tambun biscuits for her before I go back. I am still thinking what CNY delicacies that I can buy for them. Things are getting more and more expensive. I am not sure if it is really wise to splurge with the current economy. Somemore, I don't have bonus to help out.

By the way, I managed to grab another 2 mini polo tees today.

I got a "SUPERMAN" mini-T the other day from MV as well. I thought want a mini-T with the Big "S" in front, but there wasn't any in black. Thus, I thought "DAILY PLANET" will do. Don't tell me that you don't know "DAILY PLANET".

Promises don't come easy...

If I have not mistaken, that is a title for a song. Yeah.. promises don't come easy. Often in a relationship, one must have more or less promised the other party at least once. So did TY.

When we just started to earn money on our own 2++ years ago, we only had meagre salary(that doesn't mean we earn a lot now). I remember I had this request of asking him to buy me a handset as gift. At that point of time, he came out with a promise that he will buy me a handset when he earn x thousand a month. So, the naive me accepted that promise and strongly believed he will fulfil the promise when he earn x thousand per month.

Finally, he achieved that mark and I jokingly reminded him about his promise. He gave me an excuse which I don't remember what is it. I don't really angry because I know he has more commitments and I shouldn't burden him more.

The other day, the handset topic arised and out of the blue, he offered to buy me a handset when he earn x + 2K per month. I rejected his promise this time. I told him I don't want to be disappointed again. So I rather he not promise me anything.

He: Serious this time. I promise.
Me: I don't want you to promise anything. I don't want to be let down
He: Serious this time. It's true.

*few rounds of debating*

TY: If I don't buy you, I will have sausage mouth.
Me: LOL!!!!

I bought something which was not in my CNY shopping list. Ta dang...

Check out the wonders that green tea can do(as claimed by them). So, how can I resist right? Fat elimination and body slimming effect woh....

I bought the twin package that comes with a travel blanket. My friend intro-ed this brand of green tea to me and it so happened that I stumbled upon it by chance(LOL!) yesterday and a free gift as supporting element, so I happily paid for it. I was actually checking out with the promoter on the colors of the blanket available. My bro was asking me if I were there to buy the tea or the blanket. I was happily telling him, I was buying the blanket that will come with free green tea. LOL!

I'm loving it!

Nothing special happened. Screwed up the plan to go shopping for CNY. So end up at home the whole day. Since I still have the waxed duck thigh and few chinese sausages, I cooked "lap mei fan" for tonite's dinner. Waiting for my bowl of rice to be cooked now. Just found out my ji mui was posted to a secondary school at my HT. Wow... just a bit couldn't believe it. Kakakaka!!! Anyway, feel happy for her. The school near her house. Congrats MY.

I had my baby serviced and washed yesterday. But it rained. *sigh*

Holiday + "Lap Mei Fan"

It's public holiday (Awal Muharram) today. I don't know what crept into my mind but we ended up having our breakfast at McD. Kekeke... I purposely wanted to have the Happy Meal to get the free magnetic teddy bear. Great! I have 3 in my collection now. As planned earlier, TY went to get his hair cut and had his hair colored as well. This hairdresser is very good at talking the customer into getting a hair-do. So I had my hair straightened(the newly grown part) as well.

Guess what I have for dinner?!?! Kakakaka... I cooked my own wax duck thigh + chinese sausage rice. The outcome is edible and not bad. Just the color not appealing because the bottle of dark soy sauce in our kitchen expired last month. *sigh*

Well, definitely going to be a 2nd trial as I still have 1 wax duck thigh and 3 chinese sausages. I personally think, by adding some chinese mushroom to the dish, it would be much nicer.

I am down with fever today. Last night went to see doctor for sore throat and flu. I was thinking of being smart to quickly get some medicine to prevent the flu from getting worse. Little did I know that I will be down with fever today and doctor didn't prescribe fever medicine for me. And I very 'pan nai' to decline an MC. So this afternoon, I was feeling very very tired and headache. I guess it was dued to the rising temperature.

Down with fever still manage to go Jusco alone to grab the pasta and sauce and smoked frankfurters. Came back, quickly bring the water to boiled and instructed TY to boil the frankfurters and pasta. He was so 'guai' today for being helpful. (Thank God!) To ease things out, I didn't even heat the sauce. LOL!! Slices of Frankfurters spreaded on the freshly cooked pasta and pour the sauce on them. There you go... Simple and nice! Quickly popped the fever and flu med into my mouth and waiting for the time to hibernate.

Maggi Mee as gift?!?!

Big Sis called me a quarter before the clock striked 12. We chit chat-ed a while before I finally gave up as the mosquitoes had been feeding on me for as long as I was on the line. Her company had an annual dinner earlier and staffs were required to buy gifts priced RM10 above for gift exchange purpose. She said some of her colleagues were actually 'hopeless'. My sis's colleague actually got 1 pack of maggi instant noodle as gift. Yes... you read it right. That 1 pack that probably cost less than RM0.50. My goodness... My Sis got a better gift, Japanese style slippers that cost RM3.90. How she knew the price? Price tag was still there. LOL! I don't know what had caused them to come out with such a gift. Maybe they are just too poor? Or too stingy? I related the story to TY.

TY : Why Sabahan like that one....

2008 is finally here. Welcome Welcome!!! Yesterday, a friend casually asked what have I done in the past whole year of 2007. I find that was an interesting question and I actually was able to list out by monthly basis about what important event that had happened. I found that I had taken a few plunges in 2007, be it about my work or my personal affairs. Well, all I wish for 2008 is for everyone especially my family and friends to be healthy and happy and I hope for a smooth sailing journey in 2008 for everyone. Wish all of us have a prosperous year in 2008. I have already expected one big and memorable event coming ahead in a few months time. I don't know how many plunges I will take this year but according to my past records, I tend to make decision spontaneously ie unplanned decision. I do wish to be able to do well in my work. So tired.. finally the telephone line is "UP" and all I need to do is wait for the system to automatically transfer the streamyx account to the new line. Hopefully this transition will take place smoothly. I don't want to waste my time to call the customer service for troubleshooting again. Let's keep the fingers crossed.

While waiting for the technician to check the line this afternoon, I took the opportunity to clean the living room. Tomorrow got to clean and tidy and re-arrrange the bedroom.

Just now, we walked by this computer shop and I am so tempted to get a wireless modem + router. Sooner or later I got to get this. *eyes blinking*

Christmas 2007 is finally here. I didn't go for countdown lastnite but I received a call at 2.30 in the morning to go for dim sum. Ehem... so pai sieh, I was sleeping soundly since 12.30pm. So to take revenge, I dragged those fellas to go for breakfast at 10am with me. Kakakaka....I knew they slept at dawn. So we headed to Taman Desa for Fish Head Noodle again(since someone protested about going for dim sum again).

My plan to go to Pavillion failed and we ended up at Carrefour looking for plastic storage box. So there I was cleaning and packing on a beautiful christmas. Oh no...I forgot 1 important agenda of the day which was received a long distance call from Canada. Aunty Jane called all the way from Calgary in the morning of Christmas. Oh, thanks for remembering us on this beautiful day. I was not able to chat that long with her as we arrived at the crowded fish head noodle restaurant already and I got to look for seats. Those who have been there should know that we got to rely on ourselves to get those precious or rather limited seats. "Tumpang meja" is common there.

On the other hand, sis called last nite and said that my greeting card might end up somewhere in the deep blue sea as I only pasted a 30-cent stamp instead of 50-cent. Alamak... how I know that for the card to fly across South China Sea, I got to use 50-cent stamp woh.I thought flat rate for nationwide mah coz my card with 30-cent stamp also can reached from Selangor to KL... haiyoh!! waste my effort only. *heart-ache*

Tomorrow will be Christmas Eve and thus to get my blog into that feel, I will have the font color in red. I have very much would like to do something special or rather different for this Christmas. However, I just don't know what can be done here. The thought of going for a fancy dinner on Christmas night passed by my mind but... lazy lah...

I got other more practical plan on Christmas morning itself, which is to pack and move TY belongings to my place. I am just a lousy packer and mover. So much packing and cleaning ought to be done. I couldn't imagine when the house is ready and I need to do a real moving.

Almost 7 years of staying in KL does contribute a lot to my bank of property. I guess I may need to start packing 1 month in advance. Unwanted and unnecessary things ought to be thrown and sold or else I got to allocate a room just to store those rubbish. What's the point of sweating myself to get those rubbish move together with me right?

Aiyo... thinking of the new home gives me a headache. It seems like there is so much thing to be done to get myself settled down. And not forget there is so much money to be spent as well... *sigh*

Therefore my wish for this Christmas is for everyone to be healthy and happy and prosperous and also I have extra to spend on my new home. I know I can't get everything at one shot. What to do? Got to get them 1 by 1 just like putting the puzzle piece by piece and hopefully it won't take too long to get the puzzle done.
